Cast announced for film on Bangabandhu’s life
A film on Bangabandhu's life, commemorating his 100th birth anniversary, is in the making, as a joint venture by Bangladesh and India. Eminent director Shyam Benegal is directing the film. Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), published a list of fifty actors, who have been primarily selected for the project.
Arifin Shuvoo is selected to play the role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Nusrat Imrose Tisha is selected for the role of Renu (Sheikh Fazilatunnesa), while Dighi will play a younger Renu, as per the BFDC website.
According to the list, these actors are selected for the following roles- Nusraat Faria (Sheikh Hasina), Jannatul Sumaiya (young Sheikh Hasina), Shahidul Alam Sachchu (A K Fazlul Huq), Raisul Islam Asad (Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani), Fazlur Rahman Babu (Khandaker Mushtaque Ahmed), Ferdous (Tajuddin Ahmad), Gazi Rakayet (Abdul Hamid), Tushar Khan (Manik Mia), Shatabdi Wadud (a Pakistani Army officer), Abul Kalam Azad (a jail guard), Misha Sawdagor (Ayub Khan), Siam Ahmed (Shawkat Mia) and Naziba Basher (Sultana Kamal Khuki), among others. Rokeya Prachi will also play a pivotal role in the film.
Prominent actor Khairul Alam Shobuj is set to play the father of Bangabandhu, Sheikh Lutfar Rahman. Dilara Zaman will play the role of Sayera Khatun. Bangabandhu's mother. Actor-director Tauquir Ahmed will play Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy. The shooting of the film will begin from March 18.
