BFDC in festive mood for 'Chalachitra Parichalak Samiti' elections
When one hears 'FDC', they associate it with celebrities, shooting and dubbing shenanigans. However, the Chalachitra Parichalak Samiti's upcoming elections have turned the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation into a festive hub of speculations.
The election, which is scheduled to be held on January 25, will have 361 voters. It is being contested from two opposing panels. The buzz and excitement around this election is unmistakable.
Once one enters the gate, the plethora of promotional posters immediately catches the eye. Some have even put huge banners in order to promote themselves. After walking a few steps, contesting directors, as well as many from the industry, including extras, technicians and actors can be seen sharing their thoughts on the election.
However, the most commotion would be made at the office of the Parichalak Samiti. Many are sitting around the premises, while others are asking for votes. Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, the current president of the committee, and Badiul Alam Khokon, the General Secretary, were seen in a light-hearted mood at that time. “We have done some good work in the past two years, and I hope that the directors will vote for me again,” said Badiul Alam Khokon.
The opposing panel consists of Badal Khandaker for President, and Bazlur Rashed Chowdhury for General Secretary. They, too, are hopeful about victory.
Director Shafi Uddin Shafi is contesting the election for the General Secretary post independently.
As the day rolled on, the place became more crowded, with senior directors making an appearance. Their only agenda for discussion was the election on January 25. According to the directors, they would only vote for the candidates who will think of the committee before anyone else.
Abdul Latif Bachchu will act as the Chief Election Commissioner. Shafiqur Rahman and D A H Nishan will fulfill the roles of Assistant Commissioners.
