Bappy’s sweet festivities
Bappy Chowdhury has carved a place for himself in the film industry within a short span of time. Since his debut in 2012 with Bhalobasar Rong, the actor has shown promise with his performances in films like Daag Hridoye (2019) and Sultana Bibiana (2017). The actor chats with The Daily Star about his Durga Puja plans this year.
Durga Puja has always been a grand celebration in his family. Along with the other rituals, his family has their own unique traditions. They order different kinds of sweets for their loved ones on specific occasions.
“We send sweets to our friends and relatives during Durga Puja. My father has followed this tradition for as long as I can remember. We order special Laddoos on this occasion,” mentions Bappy.
Laxmi Puja takes place seven days after Durga Puja. “In this time of the year, we order Shondesh for our guests. During Kali Puja, we order special Kalo Jaam from authentic stores in Narayanganj,” he adds.
Narayanganj has many temples, and Durga Puja is celebrated magnificently in the area. Many visit the place during this season, informed the actor.
Bappy plans to visit Gulshan on Saptami. On Ashtami, he will be visiting his maternal uncle in Narsingdi. Later, he will be travelling to Comilla to see his grandfather Keshab Rai Chowdhudy on Nabami. The actor will spend the final day of Puja in his hometown, Narayanganj.
“I will be returning to the city with boxes full of sweets and love from my family after Bijoya Dashami,” shared the star.
