Renowned television star Runa Khan has enthralled the audience with her remarkable performance for years. Alongside her successful career in theatre and television industry, she has also been well received not only by the audience but also the experts. After the success of Shaap Ludo, Chitkini and Gohin Baluchor, her role as Shamima in the film Haldaa has won her a National Film Award (2017) as the Best Supporting Actor. In a candid chat with The Daily Star, the actor talks about her journey, upcoming projects, and more.

You have won the National Film Award for the first time, that too for your first film. How are you feeling after this achievement?

Receiving the National Award, that too for my first film, was truly an honour for me as an artiste. Two of my films, Haldaa and Chitkini, was released on the same day. Chitkini won the Meril Prothom Alo Critic’s Choice Award for Best Actress and Haldaa as brought me a National Award. I thank my director Tauquir Ahmed, and all my co-stars and crew.

Where do you see your acting career heading?

As an actor, acting is my prime focus and I just want to be consistent in my acting– whether it be in films, theatre, or television.

What are you busy with at the moment?

I am busy with new television dramas. Two of my films, Shaap Ludo by Golam Sohrab Dodul and Mrittika Goon’s Kalo Megher Vela, was released in 2018. I wish to work on films that inspire me, so I am looking forward to more such scripts when it comes to films.

What are your upcoming ventures?

I have finished shooting for a new television drama directed by Sazzad Shumon. However, the name for this production has not been finalised yet. We hope to release it soon after the technical side has been taken care of. My other TV serials, Family Crisis, Priyo Protibeshi, and Shewli Mala is currently on air at NTV, Channel i, and Deepto TV, respectively.
