'Sutopa'r Thikana' set for commercial release in Malaysia

Proshoon Rahmaan's critically- acclaimed film “Sutopa'r Thikana” is all set to travel to Malaysia. After its successful journey in Bangladesh, the National Grant Winner film will commercially run at four multiplex in Malaysia.

It will release on March 3 ahead of the International Women's Day on March 8. Two special screenings will be held on March 2 at Golden Screen Hall in Midvalley, Kuala Lumpur.

Following its commercial run, the film will also air on television in Malaysia and Brunei. The director and producers are also in talks to release the film in Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam depending on its success in Malaysia. 

Starring Aparna Ghoshe and Shahadat Hosain in the lead along with other actors including Jayanta Chatterjee, Mahmudul Islam Mithu, Khorshed Alam and Saika Ahmed among others, the film portrays the condition of women in South Asia.

Soon after its release in May 2015 in Dhaka, “Sutopa'r Thikana” embarked on a journey to different parts of Bangladesh.

The film has also travelled to many film festivals last year in five continents and bagged a number of awards.
