Dance artistes of different organisations of the town performed dance sequences at a programme held at Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy auditorium Saturday evening.

Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy organised the programme marking World Dance Day.

Over 100 dance artistes from 16 organisations participated in the programme that included  classical, modern and folk dances.

District cultural officer Arzu Parves delivered the welcome speech.  

The day is being observed since 1995 in Bangladesh and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has been working to promote this art form in the country, said the cultural officer.

A discussion was also held marking the occasion. The distinguished speakers said that the ancient art form of dance needs to be popularised among young people to ensure its survival.
