Proma Abonti to perform at IGCC

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre is organising an Odissi dance recital by Proma Abonti at 6pm on January 9 at the IGCC, Gulshan-1 premises.

Proma Abonti is the first artiste from Bangladesh with institutional education in the Odissi dance form. She received the Best Dancer award in 2011 for her contribution in promoting Odissi dance form in Bangladesh from the prestigious Poushali Mukherjee Dance Academy in Kolkata.

Abonti established the 'Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre' in 2001 for teaching Odissi dance form in Bangladesh. The centre follows renowned Padma Vibhushan Shree Kelucharan Mohapatra's Odissi Dance Style. In addition, it also promotes the teaching and learning of the original Tagore dance form.
