Independence Day celebrations in Mymensingh

Over 100 children sketched scenes from the Liberation War at an art competition at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (art gallery) premises on Sunday afternoon.
The art gallery organised the competition marking Independence and National Day.
Nagorbashi Barman, Associate Professor of Fine Arts Department of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) inaugurated the competition as chief guest.
Mukul Dutta, deputy keeper of the art gallery presided over the inaugural session.
A total of 109 children from different educational institutions took part in the compeition in four groups.
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners.
Marking the celebrations, different socio-cultural organisations also organised elaborate programmes.
Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy, Udichi Shilpi Goshthi, Sandipon Sangskritik Sangstha were among the cultural groups.
Shilpakala Academy organised a discussion and cultural show at its auditorium. Mymensingh Presss Club also organised a discusison at its auditorium. Professor Reazul Islam, Professor Atiqur Rahman, Freedom Fighter Bimol Pal, Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, journalists-ProfessorAbdur Razzaq, Jagadish Chandra Sarker, Neamul Kabir Sajal and Mir Golam Mustafa were the discussants.
