BLRC publication draws Toronto Bengali literati

Under the auspices of the Bengali Literary Resource Centre (BLRC), Canada, five new books were published on August 12 in Toronto, says a press release. A book launch ceremony was held, marked by the presence of luminaries of the local community and a cultural programme. The programme was planned and executed by Subrata Puru, a well known young cultural figure in Toronto.

Four Bengalee authors make their debut with the books: A Akbar Hussain has authored two books - one in Bengali with the title 'Aamar Somoy: Aamar Poth' (My Times: My Thoughts) and another in English with the title 'My Lonely Thoughts'. Other books include a Bengali novel 'Soprothivo' (under the name of the protagonist) by Dilip Chakraborty, a book of poems 'MonKolpo' (Verses of Mind) by Sekhar E Gomes and a research-oriented book titles 'Yeats'er Kobitai Nari O Nikunjo' (Women and Domain in Yeats' Poetry). The theme of the programme was, “Let's conquer tomorrow's sun by the pen”.

Renowned literary personalities of the local  Bengali community: Dr. Azizul ul Malik, Dr. Mozammel Huq Khan, Dr. Sujit Dutta, Saad Kamali and Sheuli Jahan unveiled  the books and gave their thoughtful comments on the new publications.

At the end of the programme Dr. Rakhal Sarkar, Chair of BLRC explained the aims and dreams of the organisation.
