Amra Surjamukhi holds programme at National Museum
Cultural organisation Amra Surjamukhi organised a programme titled, “Shiter Hawar Laglo Nachon”, featuring a discussion and evening of music and recitation at the Poet Sufia Kamal auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on January 5. The featured artistes at the event were Nazrul singer Yasmin Mushtari and elocutionist Dr. Ranjit Biswas, former cultural affairs secretary.
Coordinating secretary of Amra Surjamukhi, Shafiqul Islam Selim delivered the welcome address. Among others, noted Nazrul exponent Professor Emeritus Rafiqul Islam and renowned Nazrul singer Shaheen Samad spoke at the event. Barrister Amirul Islam presided over the programme.
The featured artiste Yasmin Mushtari presented several Nazrul Sangeet, Islamic songs and DL Roy numbers while Ranjit Biswas recited several Nazrul poems including, “Bangladesh”. He also emceed the event.
Yasmin Mushtari started off a rendition of “Swakkhi Theko Raat-er Akash”. She later performed a Pilu genre “Sur-e O Banir Mala”. Shaheen Samad requested Mushtari to perform another Pilu thumri “Poranpriyo Keno Ele Obelaye”. The artiste's repertoire included a ghazal “Eto Jol O Kajol”; “Harano Hiyar Nikunjo Poth-e”, based on Raga Bageshree; a popular monsoon melody “Shawono Raat-e Jodi” and “Morey Bhalobashaye Bhulaio Na”.
Binod on keyboard, Bidyut on octopad, Nasir on guitar and Apurba on tabla were expert accompanists for the artiste.
