5 journos awarded for anti-tobacco reports

Anti-tobacco campaigning organisation Progga yesterday awarded five print and electronic media journalists for their anti-tobacco reports that were published or broadcasted during the last one year.
Obaidullah Badol of Jugantor, Abu Baker Siddique of Dhaka Tribune, Shah Sohel Ahmed of Sylhet Surma, Moidul islam of NTV and Rita Nahar of Boishakhi TV were awarded at a ceremony in the capital.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu handed each of the awardees a crest, a certificate and a cheque.
Inu said increased price of tobacco would cut its use and save the country Tk 11,000 crore spent each year on treating tobacco-related diseases.
State Minister for Finance Ministry MA Mannan and State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Ministry Meher Afroze Chumki were present as special guests.
