Step down by April 30
Awami League leaders yesterday called on the alliance government to step down by April 30.
Otherwise, it will be toppled through mass movement, they warned at a rally in the city.
The Awami Jubo League, youth front of the AL, organised the rally to mark the Independence Day.
Advocate Enamul Haq Molla, president of Jaitya Jubo Oikyo, Noor Ahmed Bakul, president of Bangladesh Juba Moitri, Mahmudul Islam, general secretary of Bangladesh Juba Union, attended the rally to express their solidarity.
Obaidul Qader, joint secretary of the AL, said the April 30 deadline given by the AL has robbed the ministers and MPs of sleep and they were looking for place to hide.
He said that 26,000 killings and 14,000 rape incidents took place in two and half years of the alliance government.
AL Organising Secretary Saber Hossain Chowdhury alleged that the government was harbouring the criminals.
Saber said the spontaneous participation of the people in the rally proved that the days of the government are numbered.
Mirza Azam MP, general secretary of Jubo League, placed a 12-point demand, including appointment in all vacant posts, execution of the verdict in Bangabandhu murder case and withdrawal of false cases against Sheikh Hasina.
Jubo League President Jahangir Kabir Nanak presided over the rally.
