‘A monster, not human’: Dr Zafar Iqbal says about SUST VC
Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, former professor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, today called the university's Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed "a monster."
"I do not want to call this person, who is so adamant to stay in his post even after seeing all this, a human being. He is a monster," Dr Zafar Iqbal said after 28 students broke their hunger strike at his request this morning.
"Your lives are very precious. There's no point in risking your lives for that man," he said.
Stating that every youth in the country is with the agitating students, Zafar Iqbal said, "We have been assured from upper level of the government that your demands will be met. Both the cases will be withdrawn."
"We would have come even if we were not sure of it, but then we could not tell you to break your fast," the former professor added.
Commending the students for what they have done, Zafar Iqbal said, "Rest assured that the system of the universities and vice-chancellors of the country will be fixed due to what you have done."
The protesters have rendered 34 VCs of the country sleepless, he also commented.
