CU residential halls reopen today after 19 months
Residential halls of Chittagong University (CU) reopened today after 19 months since the closure due to Covid-19 breakout.
Students who had at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine were allowed to move into the halls after those opened around 10am, a correspondent reports quoting Professor AKM Rezaur Rahman, provost of Jananetri Sheikh Hasina Hall.
"We have arranged vaccines for all our students, we will allow the rest of the students in halls after they get the first shots," he added.
In front of the halls, banners with health and safety rules were seen hanging and students were greeted with flowers and chocolates.
"It is a great relief that we can now stay in our hall, we have faced accommodation problems during exams," Masuma Aktar Mimi, a fourth year student of banking and insurance department and resident of Khaleda Zia Hall, said.
Vaccination campaign was launched at Chittagong University Medical Centre for unvaccinated students, teachers and staff members on October 16.
