Rahul Gandhi accuses Modi of ‘destroying relationship with neighbours’
Former President of India's Congress party Rahul Gandhi today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "destroying the web of relationships" that his party had cultivated over the years with India's neighbouring countries.
He also tweeted that "living in a neighbourhood with no friends is dangerous."
Rahul's comments were made in a Twitter post while drawing attention to a report published in "The Economist" on September 19 about Bangladesh's improving relationship with China and "strain" in ties with India.
"Mr Modi has destroyed the web of relationships that the Congress built and nurtured over several decades. Living in a neighbourhood with no friends is dangerous," Rahul said while tagging "The Economist" article.
India and China are locked in a military standoff at the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh for the last six months.
On Tuesday, however, the two countries said in a joint statement after a marathon meeting on Monday that they had agreed to stop sending more troops to the frontline.
India and China also agreed that they will refrain from unilaterally changing the situation along the Line of Actual Control, according to the joint statement after last Monday's meeting between top military generals of the two countries.
