10 killed in stone quarry blast in India
At least 10 workers were killed in a powerful explosion in a stone quarry in southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh on Friday night.
The explosion occurred when regular quarrying work was being carried out in Kurnool district, an investigating officer said adding that "At least 20 workers were said to be present at the spot when the accident took place."
Gelatine sticks used for blasting the quarry suddenly exploded. This sudden explosion trapped the workers inside, causing the fatalities, the officer said.
The incident left 10 people dead and four others injured, he said.
Last reported, search operation was being conducted at the scene to see if there are any survivors or not.
