Biman Bangladesh Airlines is going to operate flights on three new destinations -- Toronto, Tokyo and Chennai -- from March.
State Minister for Civil Aviation Mohammad Mahbub Ali made the announcement at the inauguration of commercial service activities of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Printing and Publishing Department in Dhaka today.
He also said he will be able to give some good news about the direct flight from Dhaka to New York soon.
Biman's fleet is now modern and youthful as with the keen interest and efforts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, 13 new state-of-the-art aircraft have been added its fleet, Mahbub said.
He also said two more new Dash-8 aircraft will be added to the fleet soon.
The state minister warned that negligence of any official of the airline will not be tolerated to ensure the highest quality passenger service.
He said the aviation and tourism industries have suffered the most due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"All the airlines in the world are currently going through a special situation. We are taking steps to reduce the operational costs of the aircraft as well as increase the revenue through various initiatives," he said.
