Azizul Hakim and Salahuddin Lavlu -- 50 years of friendship
Azizul Hakim and Salahuddin Lavlu have been close friends since childhood. They were students of same institute, Magura PTI school, until grade 5. After that, both of them shifted to another school in Jessore together, and completed their HSC from there.
The two have Individually imprinted their names in the showbiz industry, and have been close friends for the last 50 years. Azizul Hakim narrated his special bond with Salahuddin Lavlu to The Daily Star, on the occasion of Friendship Day.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. "A few days after I left Magura PTI school, my father was transferred to Jessore for work purposes. His father as also coincidentally transferred to the same place. By sheer luck, it brought us together once again, and we were admitted to the same school.
Growing up together, we gathered loads of memories to cherish all our lives. I often become nostalgic about those days.
We would randomly go on bicycle rides after school. We would go a long way, without knowing our destination. Those days were the best days of our adolescence. On afternoons, going to the field to play was one of our everyday routines.
The day we shifted to Dhaka when father was transferred again, I was broken into pieces, as I know I was leaving my most precious friend.
After a few years of shifting to Dhaka, we got in touch once again. I immediately took him to our house.
When I joined Aranyak Natyadal, Lavlu would accompany me in his spare time. He would wait outside as I rehearsed with the group. One day, I told him to join our group. After requesting many times, I introduced him with Mamunur Rashid, and then he finally agreed. The first production we worked together was "Ora Kodom Ali".
Our friendship became stronger with time. We collaborated in the several television projects. I acted under his direction as well.
We have come a long way; however, our bond has not changed at all. Sometimes, I feel amazed that we have spent 50 years as friends. He is one of my best friends. I wish everyone a happy Friendship Day, and pray that everyone finds a true friend in their lives."
