‘Those who wanted to erase Bangabandhu, have been erased from history’

Opposition leader Raushan Ershad today told parliament those who wanted to erase Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from history have been erased from history themselves.
Lauding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her able leadership, Raushan said, "I find the image of Bangabandhu in the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has been working 24 hours for the country for the last 11 years. I don't see any alternative to her."
The opposition leader said this while participating on the resolution in the House on the occasion of the Mujib Borsho celebration.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the Leader of the House on November 9, brought the resolution under the rule 147 of the Rules of Procedure to pay solemn tribute to the Father of the Nation through a special discussion on his colourful political and work life and his philosophy in the House.
In her speech, Raushan said that the dream that Bangabandhu had for Bangladesh is still far from its final destination.
"Under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the country is moving forward by crossing inaccessible hills. The eyes of big international organizations are towards Bangladesh. Bangladesh has surpassed China and India by annual growth [gross domestic product]. Yet the goal is still far away," she also said.
Raushan in her speech said Bangabandhu wanted a democratic society without exploitation and discrimination. "We have to build our motherland in the light of his ideals." Recalling her experience of traveling on the same plane with Bangabandhu in 1974, Raushan said if she had not met Bangabandhu that day, her dreams would have remained unfulfilled.
