Startup Bangladesh Limited (SBL), the government-backed venture capital arm of the ICT Division, has announced a strategic investment in Shikho, an EdTech startup, in a move aimed at accelerating the adoption of AI-driven learning tools across Bangladesh on May 7.

With this round, Shikho's total funding has surpassed $8 million, according to a press release by Startup Bangladesh.

The strategic collaboration between Startup Bangladesh and Shikho is expected to fast-track the development of AI-driven educational tools and content, with a focus on scaling access to quality academic learning in both urban and rural communities. As the company continues to innovate, this funding will further catalyse its efforts to create an inclusive, modern, and mobile-first learning experience for millions of students nationwide, adds the press release by Startup Bangladesh.

"Having the government's backing is a milestone moment," said Shahir Chowdhury, Founder and CEO of Shikho. "It validates the work we've done so far, and more importantly, where we're headed. With AI accelerating, the potential to reinvent how students learn, while empowering teachers and transforming schools across Bangladesh, is now very real."

The funding round also attracted participation from several private investors, including local angel investors Wasikur Rahman, Kazi Zeeshan Rabeth Hasan, and Kazi Zahin Shahpar Hasan, according to Startup Bangladesh.
