Youth-based international publication ‘Y Magazine’ launched
United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) and Young Media (Y Media) launched "Y Magazine", a youth-based international publication, at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB), yesterday.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Prof Dr Sayed Saikh Imtiaz, Department of Women and Gender Studies, University of Dhaka, and Chairperson, Trustee Board, UNYSAB. Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, MP, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, was present as the chief guest, while Nahim Razzaq, MP, Co-Chair, UNYSAB Trustee Board, and Convener, Young Bangla was present as the guest of honour. Mia Seppo, Resident Coordinator Bangladesh, Ambassador M Humayun Kabir, President, Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI), and Md Akhter Hossain, Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports attended the event as special guests. The programme began with a welcome address by Fahim Razzaq. Editor of "Y Magazine".
"Y Magazine aims at showcasing the progression of achieving the SDGs of 2030 and highlight the young leaders locally and globally," he said. "The magazine will focus on areas like education, business, and personal development."
This was followed by the presentation of an audiovisual on UNYSAB by Shyami Wadud, President of UNYSAB.
Md Akhter Hossain spoke about the necessity of equipping the youth with required skills and the initiatives being taken by the government to ensure their development and proper leadership qualities.
Nahim Razzaq shed light on the importance of highlighting the contribution of the youth in the context of Bangladesh for the next 50 years and the necessity of education and training facilities for the change makers.
"The Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a volunteer in famine-stricken areas of Bihar at the beginning of his political career. Young people have to work together while upholding his ideals," said Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury. "I urge UNYSAB to fulfill the SDGs by realizing the dream of the Father of the Nation with conscious leadership".
After enlightening the audience with his wisely chosen words, he unveiled the first cover of "Y Magazine" and inaugurated its journey ahead. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof Dr Sayed Saikh Imtiaz.
