Entertaining and educating children creatively
Azmir Hasan Kanak launched a video-sharing website called TingtongTube, with an objective to entertain children and develop their cognitive creativity. Offering a variety of visual content in Bangla, this platform allows kids to view cultural, artistic, social, educational, historic, and humourous videos.
Azmir came across a crisis for quality content especially designed for kids, while looking for videos for his five-year-old son Raiyan. "YouTube is very popular among children, but the videos we find on it are not reviewed by any human personnel. A lot of the visual content is not suitable for children," says Azmir, the Founder and CEO of TingtongTube. "Anyone who is interested in creating content specifically for children can upload their videos on our website, but they must bear in mind that our target audience is children aged between 5 and 13, and their parents."
Azmir started working on creating videos at home for Raiyan with the support of his wife Tamanna Rahman, who is the manager of operations at TingtongTube. In a short span of time, the platform made way to a wide audience. It currently has visits from over 9,000 spectators. While the platform's website is available from any browser, it also has an app under the same name, which is available for free on Google Playstore.
Currently, 35 young content creators from all over the country are working remotely with TingtongTube. The core team members are Ali Zaber Choudhury (Head of Operations), Md Ibrahim Shopon (Chief Technical Officer), Mohammad Safayat Hossain (Asst. Manager, Social Media), Nusrat Jahan Tahira (Executive, Public Relations), and Toru Shahriar Shorgo (Asst Manager, Media & Activations).
Children can watch musical, sports-based, craft tutorial, and IT-based videos, along with travel vlogs, rhymes, and skits for free on TingtongTube. In addition to making entertaining videos for children, lectures on important themes such as health and nutrition, mental wellbeing, and social issues on the platform help in proper parenting and raise awareness among young parents.
Alongside its rhyme series, TingtongTube produced a series of short films on positive parenting.
"We wish to come up with more ideas and for that, we need young videographers and content creators with fresh perspectives. We have over 12,000 videos on our platform and we want to multiply the number with every passing day," concludes Azmir.
