One-day meat market in the capital

Every year on Eid-ul-Azha, the one-day meat market becomes the main place to buy and sell meat collected by people of lower income groups from different homes.

This year, meat was seen being sold in vans and major rail crossings in the city.

In this one-day market, some sell meat per kg, while others sell meat by sack rates.

The price of these meats is determined by the size and quality. This year, meat was sold at Tk 200-Tk 800 per kg.  And meat was being sold at Tk 2,000-Tk10,000 per sack.

Last year, the meat was sold at Tk 150-Tk 600 per kg.

The buyers and sellers of this market are all lower class. Some of them sell meat collected for some money on this day of the year. And people who cannot get their hands on meat are the main buyers of the one-day meat market.
