Khulna: A city of processions in the Language Movement

Khulna has always been known as an industrial and commercial city. A massive wave of Language Movement spread in Khulna too. On February 27, 1948, the students of Daulatpur College in Khulna took to the streets for the first time, demanding that Bangla be made the national language.

In the Language Movement, Khulna became a city of processions with the united movement of school-college students and progressive political leaders and workers.
