Sohan penalised for showing dissent
Fortune Barishal wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan Sohan has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for expressing dissent at an umpiring decision during his side's Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) encounter against Sylhet Sunrisers at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
According to a press release from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today, Sohan had committed a Level 1 breach, as far as the Article 2.4 of the BCB Code of Conduct for Players is concerned. As a consequence, one demerit point was added to the wicket-keeper's disciplinary record alongside the financial penalty.
However, in the end, a formal hearing was avoided since Sohan admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee A.S.M. Roquibul Hassan while on-field umpires on the game -- Tanvir Ahmed and Mozahiduzzaman Swapan, third umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul and fourth official Ali Arman Rajon -- levelled the charge.
Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player's match fee along with one or two demerit points.
