Krira Jagat turns 40
Fortnightly sports magazine Krira Jagat celebrated its fortieth anniversary yesterday at the National Sports Council auditorium in the presence of prominent sports writers, including one or two who wrote for the first issue on July 20, 1977.
The occasion quickly turned into a reunion for those present, including State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Shikdar and Deputy Sports Minister Arif Khan Joy.
Veteran journalist Muhammad Kamruzzaman, who wrote for the first issue, poet Sanaul Haque, a regular contributor since the early issues, and Electra International were accorded receptions for their involvement in the sports magazine.
"It is a milestone for a Bengali sport magazine, which started in 1977. It is not only a landmark but has also been preserving the history of the Bangladesh sports,” said editor Mahmud Hossain Khan Dulal.
“A lot of love, emotion and patience are involved with the magazine as I was first a reader and then a contributor before finally becoming editor in 1996," said Dulal, adding that they would revamp the magazine in the coming days.
