3 England-based expats make BPL

England-based expatriate footballers Nabil Rahim, Abdul Muhaymin Hoque and Samuel Elhaz Hudson were signed by some of the country's top clubs during the Bangladesh Premier League's mid-season transfer window, which closed yesterday with the second-phase of the league beginning from Sunday.

They will join the four expatriates already been playing in the Bangladesh Premier League, including the likes of Denmark-based Jamal Bhuiyan of Saif SC and Finland-based Tareq Raihan Kazi of Bashundhara Kings. Both also represent Bangladesh at the international level.

Meanwhile, Qatar-based Obaidur Rahman Nawbab and England-based Mahdi Hasan made their BPL debut last season for Bashundhara Kings although Nawbab moved to Muktijoddha Sangsad in this transfer window.

The latest moves were made by Mohammedan as they signed right-winger Nabil Rahim and left-winger Abdul Muhaymin while Saif SC roped in defender Samuel Hudson.

"Nabil and Muhaymin have good fundamentals, so they are good footballers. Including them, as well as Mirajul Islam and Sheikh Morsalin, will definitely strengthen our reserves, which was not good ahead of the mid-term transfers," Mohammedan director Abu Hasan Prince said yesterday.

Samuel Hudson, who played for Bradford Phoenix FC in England, has been in training with Saif SC for a few months and is expected to be drafted into the starting eleven.

In other news, leaders Bashundhara Kings roped in two foreign players -- Brazilian midfielder Miguel Ferreira Damasceno and Spanish forward Nuha Marong Krubally -- to strengthen their squad after playing the first half of the season with two foreign players.

"They have just arrived. It is a matter of adjusting to the weather, the practice, our game plan and ideas and the characteristics of Bengali football. Hopefully they will make an impact. That's our wish and expectation," Bashundhara Kings coach Oscar Bruzon said.

Sheikh Russel KC also changed three players in an attempt to climb out of the bottom half of the table, signing former Chittagong Abahani midfielder Charles Didier of Costa Rica, Nigerian forward Ismaheel Akinade and Ghanaian forward Richard Gadze.

Joint-third-placed Chittagong Abahani roped in Nigerian forward Candy Augustine Agbane in place of William Tawal to strength the forward line.

Rahmatganj, Bangladesh Police FC, Muktijoddha Sangsad and Uttar Baridhara also participated in the mid-term transfer window as they seek to avoid relegation.
