Dhaka University (DU) ran out as winners of the chess championship at the Inter-University Indoor Games 2019, beating Jahangirnagar University (JU) in the final round on Saturday.
The games, which began from 29th March, were held at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET). A total of nine teams battled for the trophy with the games being played in Swiss League system.
DU beat Rajshahi University, Khulna University, and Jagannath University in the first three rounds, before beating JU 3-1 in the finals to finish as unbeaten champions.
The DU chess team had finished as runners-up and second runners-up respectively in the previous two editions of the Inter-university Indoor Games.
Md. Fazley Elahi Rana & Relish Rongdi from Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management, Md.Barek Hossain & Shameem Sohanee from Department of English & Nahid Hasan from Department of Islamic History & Culture formed the DU winning team.
