Women’s team win one-dayers
Sharmin Akhter hit an unbeaten 83 as the Bangladesh Emerging Women's Team posted an emphatic nine-wicket victory against their South African counterparts to clinch the one-day series at the Groenkloof Oval in Pretoria yesterday.
Bangladesh lost the first game by 47 runs but bounced back in the second with a four-wicket victory.
In the third and final match, Fahima Khatun claimed three wickets while Khadija Tul Kubra took two to restrict the home side to 176 runs in 50 overs.
In reply, Murshida Khatun and Sharmin made a solid start, scoring 75 runs for the opening stand before Murshida fell victim to a run out on 31. Sharmin and Nigar Sultana then added 104 to an unbeaten second wicket partnership as the touring side posted the target in 44.4 overs.
The two sides will not lock horns again in a three-match T20 series which begins on July 31.
