Big wins for Abahani, Mohammedan
The two major powerhouses of domestic cricket in Bangladesh -- Abahani and Mohammedan Sporting Club -- both registered huge wins in their respective Premier Division Women's Cricket League matches in Savar yesterday.
At BKSP-3, Abahani's Jahanara Alam picked up four wickets for 21 runs before Sharmin Sultana struck an unbeaten 52-ball 53 to help the Dhanmondi-based outfit secure a whopping 10-wicket victory over Gulshan Youth Club.
Electing to bat, Gulshan Youth Club managed only 85 before being bundled out in 33.3 overs as Jahanara ran riot with the ball to dismantle the side's batting order.
Following the exchange, Abahani strolled past the target in just 14.4 overs following Sharmin's fluent half ton.
In the day's other game at BKSP-2, a disciplined bowling approach from Mohammedan had Kalabagan Krira Chakra bundled out for a paltry 120 in 47.5 overs. Mohammedan reached their target in 22.1 overs, courtesy of Fatema Akter's 46 and Sharmin Akter's unbeaten 44.
