Tendulkar’s unique WC relationship with Tigers
When it comes to the World Cup, India's former Master Blaster has a unique relationship with Bangladesh cricket team. While he is the record holder for most tons and fifties at World Cups, his record against Bangladesh in the event does not shine as brightly.
The Tigers are the only one among the top ten ODI teams, against whom he doesn't have a fifty or more in the game's biggest stage.
The most successful ODI batman of all time, with 18426 ODI runs that included 49 hundreds and 96 fifties managed scores of 7 and 28 during his two World Cup appearances against the Tigers. During 2007's match at Port of Spain, Tigers inflicted a five-wicket defeat on India as Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan struck fifties. The defeat resulted in India crashing out of the coveted tournament.
Tendulkar has overall struck two fifties and one ton against the Tigers. His only ODI ton – which also brought up his 100th international ton -- against the Tigers also ended in a five-wicket defeat for his side when Bangladesh chased down India's 289/5 with Tamim, Jahurul Islam Nasir Hossain striking fifties while Shakib Al Hasan's 31-ball 49 and Mushfiqur's 35-ball 46-run cameos ensured a famous win in the Asia Cup.
Tendulkar is the highest run-getter in World Cups, with 2,278 runs overall, and he holds the record for the most runs in a single tournament, scoring 673 in the 2003 World Cup.
