Shohidul fifer powers BCB XI
Shohidul Islam picked up a fifer to help BCB XI end the first day of their four-day match against KSCA Secretarys XI in the Dr (Capt) K. Thimmappiah Memorial tournament on a high note at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in India yesterday.
Right-arm pacer Shohidul ran riot, bagging five wickets for just 20 runs to help bundle out Secretarys XI on a meagre 79-run total in 41 overs.
Asked to bat, Secretarys XI never seemed to find the groove as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. A team high 69-ball 18 from tail-ender KS Devaiah was one of only three scores to cross the 10-run mark on the day.
BCB XI took a lead of 56 runs in their first innings, ending with 135 for three. Opener Shadman Islam scored 59 runs off 93 balls while Jahurul Islam and Najmul Hossain remained unbeaten on 28 and 27 respectively.
