Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been taken to the hospital for a scan today morning after his old groin injury seemingly resurfaced following a blow that he suffered during fielding on the second day of Tigers' first of two Tests against the West Indies at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram yesterday.

The incident occurred when Shakib came to bowl in the sixth over of the West Indies' innings after Tea. The 33-year-old all-rounder seemed to have suffered a blow in his groin when he attempted to stop a ball with his leg after Windies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite pushed it towards mid-on for a single.

Shakib continued playing after that and bowled three more overs but had to leave the field after the 17th over of the innings.

Shakib suffered a groin injury during Bangladesh's third and final ODI against the West Indies last month. He was kept under observation for 48 hours after that and only joined the Tigers' squad for training after recovering from the injury.

Even though it seems that Shakib's old groin injury resurfaced, match officials informed that it was rather a new injury for which the all-rounder has been taken for a scan. Shakib, who was supposed to take the field with the Tigers today on the third day of their ongoing Test against the West Indies, has been replaced by substitute Yasir Ali on the field.
