Saif goes for naught as Tigers bat in first Test
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Kandy today.
Taskin Ahmed, who last played Tests in 2017 in South Africa, returned to the lineup as the Tigers named three quicks for the first Test, Abu Jayed Rahi and Ebadat Hossain being the other two in the lineup.
Mominul felt that the pitch looked a little dry at the toss.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam too were picked as Bangladesh went in with five frontline bowlers. Right-handed opener Saif Hassan was also in the playing eleven, picked over Shadman Islam to start with Tamim Iqbal.
For Sri Lanka, Angelo Matthews was back after missing the West Indies series due to injury.
Tamim got off to a good start, hitting two fours off Lakmal in the first over, however there was not much joy for Saif as he fell for naught, out leg-before to left-armer Vishwa Fernando.
