NCL suspended due to upsurge in Covid-19
The Bangladesh Cricket board (BCB) has decided to suspend the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) for an indefinite period owing to a fresh upsurge in coronavirus.
"We have decided to suspend the league for now as a safety measure. We will observe the Covid-19 situation before thinking of starting the league again," board CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told The Daily Star today.
The NCL's second round is slated to end today. A few of the players had contracted Covid-19 during the ongoing league and with the upsurge in coronavirus cases around the country, the BCB wants to take it's time since it would also be difficult to continue the league due to logistical challenges imposed by restrictions.
