BCB may appoint Mahmud as interim coach
Khaled Mahmud is the most likely candidate to be appointed as Bangladesh team head coach for the Tigers' upcoming Sri Lanka tour, starting from July 26, said BCB's cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan.
The post of head coach in Bangladesh team remains vacant since Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has severed ties with former coach Steve Rhodes just days after Bangladesh exited ICC Cricket World 2019.
While Akram did not confirm about Mahmud's appointment as an interim coach yet, he reiterated that the decision is likely to be made in 2-3 days.
"There remains a crisis regarding the post of head coach in the team. But we are trying to make it work with Mahmud for the time being. In the meantime we will be searching for the head coach. We are looking into the matter if Mahmud could be the interim coach. We will come to decision after 2-3 days."
BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus also said that the board is yet to make any decision regarding this matter.
"Nothing is confirmed. The board is yet to make a decision regarding the head coach of the team." said Jalal.
Bangladesh will be leaving for Sri Lanka on July 20.
