Bangladesh make Street Child Cricket World Cup semis

Bangladesh made the semifinal of the inaugural Street Child Cricket World Cup, courtesy of their brilliant showing in the group stages where they defeated North India and Nepal on the second day of the tournament.

Despite losses to England and Tanzania, Bangladesh finished fourth in the standings with their five-run and seven-run victory over North India and Nepal respectively.

Bangladesh posted 32 for 2 in six overs before England assailed them, winning the game by five wickets and an over remaining. They won against India after posting 39 for no loss before restricting their opponents to 34 for 1.

Tanzania chased down Bangladesh’s 36/3 in the next game without losing any wickets but Bangladesh bounced back in the pivotal last game against Nepal by hammering 49 for 1 in six overs before restricting Nepal to 42 for 1.

Earlier, on the first day of the event, Bangladesh had beaten West Indies and Mauritius.

Both the semifinals and the final will be played at the Lord’s cricket ground in London.
