Review: At first glance, Comedy 420 seems nothing more than a run-of-the-mill comedy serial meant to provide cheap laughs. The name and the apparent random scenes might entail so. But look past the obvious and you will find a show which looks into the deeper problems of humanity itself. We all lie and cheat to get by in daily life. Comedy 420 highlights that particular behavior and showcases it in its enormous variety of characters; all trying to achieve success, fame or fortune in life while ignoring their own flaw. But let's not get too serious here. Comedy 420, as its name implies, is a comedy serial, and in that aspect, it does its job well. People ignoring own shortcomings and concerning with only themselves: Comedy 420 turns that lack of insight into a hilarious gesture, something which is the subject of further predicaments in the grand scheme of the story. Speaking of the story, there isn't a main plot. The episodes evenly divide significance for each character, ensuring screentime and character development for just about everyone. But there are no main characters. Everyone is the hero of their life and more often than not, regards themselves more important than anything else. This once again brings the running gag of unsuccessful lies, turning into a target of mockery and of course, further hilarity. For a regular airing show, Comedy 420 manages to provide a decent level of entertainment for the viewer. In a more critical perspective, it provides a rather thought-provoking side of human characteristic we seldom bother about: selfishness. But again, it's a comedy and serious elements are best not thought of. If you're looking for a good laugh at characters reflecting real-life scenarios, Comedy 420 is the serial to tune into.
