Peeping Tom

A Royal Visit

Remember that British historical drama series you used to watch every single day on Star World? Yes, we’re talking about Downton Abbey. Remember shipping Mary and Matthew harder than you shipped yourself with your crush; only to be heartbroken when Matthew got killed in a car crash? Remember crying for hours over Sybil’s death, and wanting it to be Edith instead? Remember hating Thomas, then sympathising with him, and finally loving him more than every single character? Remember wearing your thrifted 1920’s style vintage dress and thinking to yourself, “Ugh, I was born in the wrong era”? Remember lying on your bed depressed that you won’t ever get to see your favourite show again? Even if you don’t relate much to these, just admit that Downton Abbey shaped your life as you know it, and you would’ve been a completely different person, had you not watched the show. We see your self-confidence, and we know you got it from Lady Mary. Don’t even try to say otherwise. We know where you got your #vintageaesthetic from. We see you. Good news, good news, good news: Downton Abbey’s back; in the form of a movie! Breathe in and out slowly; we don’t want you to hyperventilate to death before watching the movie. Let’s get to all the things we know about the upcoming film: most of the cast will be reprising their roles, the movie is a continuation of the series, it is set in 1927, King George V and Queen Mary will be giving the family a visit, Thomas might get a love interest. We can all admit that the possibility of Thomas getting a happy ending with his special someone is the thing we’re looking forward to the most. It will be really difficult to contain our excitement, until the film is released on September 13, 2019.
