Dr. Nashid Kamal Wins Channel i Music Award

Dr. Nashid Kamal is an accomplished individual known for her academic writings and prowess in music and singing. This time, she adds another achievement to her repertoire, by winning the Channel i Music Award in the Nazrul Sangeet category for her solo album Gaan-e Gaan-e Nazrul Jeeboni. The album is a unique one in its category, as it contains biographical narrations of the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's life between the songs. Released last year, the album has been well-received as a tribute to the legendary poet and songwriter. "Eminent Nazrul exponents are responsible for selecting the winners in the Nazrul Sangeet category, so it is an honor to receive such an award," said Dr. Nashid Kamal. Regarding the album, she said, "The album begins with Hera Hote Hele Dule, an Islamic song, and then moves onto love songs, folk songs, melancholic songs and also songs representing his last days." Dr. Nashid Kamal wrote the script, sang, as well as voiced the narrations in the album.
