Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett will be chairing this year's Cannes Film Festival, to be held on the French Riviera. This Australian movie star will become the 11th woman to chair a jury board. She will lead the panel comprised of actors and filmmakers to choose the winner of the Palme d'Or – the prestigious award for the best film. “I am humbled by the privilege and responsibility of presiding over this year's jury”, stated Blanchett. This festival plays an essential role in bringing the world's most talented artists together to celebrate stories that they share, crave and understand. Blanchett with some other actors has recently initiated a campaign to help fight sexual harassment in Hollywood. Harvey Weinstein's sex scandal has accelerated this movement and accumulated protesters to stand strong against harassment at workplaces.
