Tamalika back on stage
Actor Tamalika Karmakar is back to performing on stage after a short break. Recently she performed and choreographed for the 184th rendition of Rarang, a very popular production of Aranyak Natyadal. The play has been written and directed by Mamunur Rashid; it illustrates the rebellion of the Shantal community - an indigenous minority group living in the country's northern region - against the oppression of the British regime. The story depicts the life of the great Shantal leader Alfred Soren who died a hero fighting against colonial oppression. Tamalika said, "I was very excited because I missed performing in front of a crowd; I really missed the stage. I was also a bit nervous, but mostly I was overwhelmed with joy. This production is very close to my heart and I hardly miss any performances." Tamalika will be seen in various dramas during Eid-Ul-Azha.
