Farida Parveen Receives ‘Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal’
Popular singer Farida Parveen was recently awarded with the Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal, at a ceremony held on August 4, 2019. The award was handed to her by Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman. Upon receiving the award, Farida Parveen expressed her gratitude to Dhaka University, and said, "I am really honoured to get an award named after Feroza Apa. I feel proud of it." Dhaka University has been giving the Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal to prominent Bangladeshi musicians since 2016. Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Abu Md. Delwar Hossain and Treasurer, Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin were present as special guests. Late Ferzoa Begum's brother, Mr. M. Anis Ud Dowla, Chairman of ACI Foundation gave a heart-warming speech in which he thanked Dhaka University for their initiative. The Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium was filled with many teachers, students, musicians, writers and cultural personalities alike.
