Musicians Pay Homage to Abdul Ahad
Renowned and upcoming artists both performed at an event organized by The Daily Star to pay homage to legendry musician Abdul Ahad. It was held on July 28, at The Daily Star-Bengal Art Precinct of The Daily Star Centre. Sujit Mustafa, Anupama Mukti, Nandita and some students of the Government Music College performed modern and patriotic songs composed by the great Abdul Ahad. Talented lyricists Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal, Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Gazi Mazharul Anwar, Moshin Reza, Santosh Sengupta, Shahedul Islam and Shamsur Rahman wrote the lyrics for the songs performed. Sadya Afreen Mallick, Chief of Cultural Initiatives at The Daily Star conducted the program. Abdul Ahad had played a very big role in the Bangladeshi music industry. He helped launch many musicians, composed a lot of popular songs, and wrote books on Bangladeshi music. The government awarded him with the Shadhinata Padak back in 1978.
