UIU organises first-ever accounting Olympiad

For the first time in the history of Bangladesh, an intra-university accounting competition, titled “Kurkure presents Accounting Olympiad” was held at United International University. President of ICAB Dewan Nurul Islam (FCA) and Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala, Commissioner of Securities and Exchange Commission were present as chief guests while VC of UIU Prof. Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman and Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Hasnan Ahmed were present as special guests.

Out of 41 teams, ten were selected for the final round. Prizemoney for the champions were BDT 25,000 and for the first and second runner-ups, BDT 15,000 and 10,000 respectively. Before the main competition, a two-day workshop was organised to help the contestants.

SEU to host ACM-ICPC Dhaka Regional and ICCIT 2019

Southeast University (SEU) has been announced as hosts of “Association of Computing Machinery-International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC) Dhaka Regional 2019” in October 2019, in collaboration with ICPC Scout Team.

A meeting was held recently where Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, VC; M. Kamaluddin Chowdhury, Representative Member of BOT, SEU Trust; Prof. Dr. AFM Mafizul Islam, Adviser to BOT and Head of BOT Office, SEUT; Prof. Dr. Abul Lais M.S. Haque, Dean, School of Science & Engineering; and Shahriar Manzoor, Associate Professor of CSE Department were present on behalf of SEU. Prof. William B. Poucher, ICPC Executive Director; Prof. Jeff Donahoo, ICPC Deputy Executive Director; and Prof. C. Jinshong Hwang, Director of Asia Contests were present on behalf of the ICPC Scout Team.

SEU has also announced to organise the 22nd International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (ICCIT) 2019 in December 2019.

DIU holds teachers orientation and training programme

Daffodil International University (DIU) organised a “Teachers Orientation & Training Program” today on January 6, 2019 with 72 newly appointed faculty members in various departments of the university at Banquet Hall of DIU.

Prof. Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, VC, DIU was present as the chief guest. Conducted by Prof. Dr. Engineer A K M Fazlul Haque, Registrar, DIU, the programme was addressed by Prof. Dr. S M Mahbub Ul Haque Majumdar, Pro-VC; Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer; Prof. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Controller of Examinations; Mominul Haque Majumder, Director (F & A); and Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director (Students Affairs) of DIU.

Prof. Dr. Islam also said that the major intention of a teacher should be to motivate students in searching knowledge. Students will follow teachers. So the teachers should make an example through their living style.

IUBAT signs MoU with Bdjobs

Prof. M Lutfar Rahman, Registrar, International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) and Chief Commercial Officer of Bdjobs.com Prokash Roy Chowdhury signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the two organisations on December 26, 2018 at IUBAT conference hall, Uttara Dhaka.

VC Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab; Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Hamida Akhtar Begum; Treasurer Prof. Selina Nargis; Controller of Examinations Brig. Gen. Dr. Md Zahid Hossain (Retd.); Director Alumni Office and Students Placement AKM Sharfuddin; Senior Manager  Mohammad Ali (Firose); and Sr. Executive, Business Development, Abdur Rab Al Mohaimin of Bdjobs.com were present during the signing ceremony.

 

BRACU holds freshmen orientation programme for Spring 2019

BRAC University (BRACU) organised freshmen orientation programme for the students of Spring 2019 semester at the Golf Garden, Army Golf Club, Dhaka on January 6, 2019.

The event started with video message by Sir Fazle Hasan Abed KCMG, Chairperson of BOT, BRACU and Chairperson, BRAC welcoming the students. Pro-VC Prof. Mohammad Tamim PhD said that BRACU is different than any other university in our country. It creates leaders and encourages free thinking.

Registrar Lt. Col. Md. Foyzul Islam (Retd.) gave a brief on university administration and student discipline in his concluding speech. A BRACU alumni shared his experience of campus life with freshers.

Director of the BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), chairpersons of several departments and other officials of BRACU were present at the event.

 

EWU welcomes freshers of Spring 2019

The orientation programmes of newly-admitted students for Spring 2019 were held in different academic programmes of East West University (EWU) campus at Aftabnagar, Dhaka on January 3, 2019. Approximately 1500 students were admitted to graduate and undergraduate programmes in 14 different departments this semester. The objective of the programmes was to welcome new students and introduce them to university facilities, faculty members, the academic system and the rules and regulations of the institution.

The programmes were attended by Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of BOT, EWU and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank; Shelley A. Mubdi, Member, BOT; Dr. Saidur Rahman Lasker, Member, BOT; Prof. Dr. M.M. Shahidul Hassan, VC; Prof. Dr. Fakrul Alam, Pro-VC, and the Deans of the University.

Speakers welcomed the freshers to the EWU campus and encouraged them to try to work harder and be worthy citizens of the country.
