PUST teacher starts sit-in after bringing allegations against university authorities
A teacher of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) has started a sit-in for an indefinite period, protesting alleged corruption and irregularities by the university authorities.
Dr Md Abdul Alim, an associate professor of the Bangla department of PUST, started the protest in front of the administrative building on campus to press home an eight-point demand today, our Pabna correspondent reports.
The teacher also demanded removal of Rajshahi University's Vice Chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan, who has been recently made a member of the PUST regent board.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) recently found evidence of corruption and irregularities against Abdus Sobhan and several others of the university.
Talking to our Pabna correspondent, the PUST teacher said, "I will continue my protest until the university authorities fulfill the demands."
He will stage the sit-in alone for three hours from 10:00am every working day, he added.
When contacted, PUST Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Rustom Ali denied the allegations and said, "It's his personal matter. The university authorities are not bothered by it."
