Jatiya Oikyafront

Jatiya Oikyafront today sought permission of prison authorities to meet BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia now undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka.

Oikyafront, an alliance of several opposition political parties including BNP and Gonoforum, sent a letter to the jail authorities concerned seeking the permission, Jahangir Alam Mintoo, office secretary of Oikyafront, told The Daily Star.

For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel.

The letter contains the names of a five-member delegation led by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rob) President Abdur Rob, he said.

Other names of the delegation are JSD Vice-President Tania Rob, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Gonoforum General Secretary Reza Kibria and Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury, Mintoo said.

Khaleda has been in jail since she was convicted in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case in February 8, 2018. She has been receiving treatment at the BSMMU since April 1.
