BNP leader Moudud Ahmed no more
BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed has passed away at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital this evening.
Moudud Ahmed breathed his last at the hospital around 6:30pm (Bangladesh time), BNP leader Zainul Abedin Faroque confirmed to The Daily Star.
On February 1, the BNP leader was admitted at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for advanced treatment.
Moudud was shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital on March 9 following the deterioration of his condition.
He had been struggling for a few days due to lung congestion. Besides, Moudud had serious kidney complications, according to BNP leaders.
Moudud Ahmed is one of the founding members of the BNP. He joined Jatiya Party in 1985 and served as prime minister and vice president in HM Ershad's government.
After the fall of Ershad, Moudud returned to BNP in 1996 and was made law minister in Khaleda Zia's government in 2001.
