Jatiya Party (JP) today urged the government to make a permanent list of flood-affected people to distribute relief materials among them every year.

“The relief items would be distributed among the flood victims through relief cards,” JP Chairman GM Quader said.

He came up with the call while distributing relief materials among the flood-affected people in Panchgachhi union of Kurigram this morning.

“Many flood-affected people don’t want to stand in long queues for receiving aids. So, the relief items will be distributed through cards in order to ensure proper and transparent distribution to them,” he said.

“We, as the main opposition party in the parliament, stand beside the flood-affected people,” Quader further said. HM Ershad always stood beside the victims and we also will stay beside them, he added.

If any irregularities take place in the relief distribution, the party will raise the issue in the parliament, Quader, also a lawmaker, said.

In a reply to a reporter’s query, he said that there is a panic prevailing among the people for dengue fever. The government failed to eliminate the panic, he claimed.
