Measures taken to protect 1,220 monuments, murals of Bangabandhu: Police HQ tells HC
The police headquarters today submitted a report to the High Court, saying that it has taken all necessary measures to ensure protection of all monuments and murals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman across the country.
There are a total of 1,220 monuments and murals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman where law enforcers are deployed round the clock, Deputy Attorney General Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar told The Daily Star citing the report.
Search lights and CCTV cameras were also set up in the areas, DAG Bashar, who placed the report to the HC, said.
The police headquarters submitted the report through the home ministry to the HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice Shahed Nuruddin in line with its December 7, 2020 order.
The HC bench has set January 21 for passing further order on this issue, DAG Bashar added.
Following a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Bashir Ahmed, the HC on December 7 last year directed the authorities concerned of the government to immediately take necessary steps to ensure protection of all monuments and murals of Bangabandhu.
